When was the last time you jumped for joy? Jumping boosts our serotonin levels and induces happiness. In fact, people love bouncing around so much that we’ve dedicated a whole day to it. That’s right, July 20th is World Jump Day!
We’ve put together a list of sports activities, games and day-adventures that incorporate feel-good jumping fun for the family this #summerofplay! Read on for inflatable parks, trampoline games and space-hopper races!
Bouncy Games & Activities
Getting an adequate amount of exercise is so important for children, and active play is a great way to encourage them to move more. These games will have the whole family hopping, skipping and jumping in no time!
Spacehopper Race
You’ll need some bouncy space hoppers and an adequately sized grassy play area for this activity! Get everyone lined up and use some masking tape to mark out your start and finish lines. Enjoy unimaginable amounts of fun as everyone bounces and tumbles about trying to reach the finish line first. It’s harder than it looks!
Trampoline Games
If you’re lucky enough to have a trampoline at home or can make it down to one of our awesome recommended trampoline parks below, check out Big Family Blessing’s list of 45 Trampoline Games your Kids will Love for play ideas.
Skipping/ Double Dutch
Check out Skip-hop’s guide and get the whole family involved. If your little explorers prefer to skip solo, get them to have a go at Very Well Families’ brilliant list of Jump Rope Games and Activities for Kids.
Sack Race
This one’s a classic. If you don’t have any large fabric sacks on hand why not try these? Now all you need is a large grassy play area! Use some duct tape to mark out your start and finish lines, get everybody into their sack and hop, hop, hop to the finish line!
Long Jump Tournament
Cut five 12-inch long pieces of duct tape and position them on the ground in front of you with each piece placed around 5-inches apart. Then have your kids take turns seeing how far they can jump. With each round, take down each jumper’s score based on the piece of tape they land closest to. Increase the difficulty with each round by moving the pieces of tape further and further apart. Try five rounds and see which player can jump the farthest overall!
