10 Halloween games for kids!

Halloween can be as scary or as fun as you make it! Check out our list of 10 games to try with the kids this spooky season!

Mummified Sack Race

Forget the sacks! You won’t need them for this wildly fun Halloween-themed race. Gather your participants at the starting line and wrap them all from head-to-toe in toilet roll or crepe paper bandages! The first runner to the finish line with no rips in their bandages wins!

Witch Hat Ring Toss

Grab some black card, tape and paper plates for this spell-binding D-I-Y game. Ask the kids to make cone hats with your supplies! Then, cut holes out of the centre of some paper plates to make tossing rings. You can even colour the rings in with some markers or paint. To play, split the rings evenly between players and see how many rings they can toss onto the cone hats. The player who lands the most rings is the winner!

Pumpkin Patch Stomp

This bouncy activity can be played either indoors or outdoors and all you need are some bright orange balloons. Start by filling your deflated balloons with an assortment of Halloween treats and candies! Hang the balloons in your backyard or living room and bash them with a stick pinata-style until the balloons split and reveal the sweet prizes inside!

Pin The Spider On The Web

As a spooky spin on the classic pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey game, why not try to pin the spider on its web? To play, grab a large piece of cardboard, draw a large cobweb in the centre and attach your web to the wall. Next, get each player to draw a spider on a piece of paper and cut it out! Have all players attach a piece of blue tack to the back of their spider. You’re ready to play! Blindfold each player and spin them around ten times. Each player take turns to pin their spider closest to the centre of the web. The player whose spider ends up closest to the centre of the web wins!

Bobbing For Donuts

This yummy game is a treat! String up some donuts to a tree branch (if there aren’t any trees around, a washing line will do!) and tie each player's hands behind their backs! The kids must then try eating the donut without using their hands! The first one to eat their donut wins! Sweet, messy fun!

Bean Bag Toss Pumpkins

Why not blend two spooky-season activities into one? Carving pumpkins and bean bag toss! To make this game, carve your pumpkins as usual, leaving large oval holes for the mouths. Don’t forget to scoop out the pulp and seeds! Stack your jack o'lanterns vertically from largest to smallest, using skewers to hold them upright. To play, toss bean bags into the pumpkin's mouths and earn ten points each time one lands inside. The person who scores the most points wins a prize!

Mummified Bowling

Why not try this fantastic take on bowling? Gather up any litre plastic bottles you have around the house and fill them halfway with tap water. Wrap up each bottle in toilet paper and glue on some googly eyes to create your ‘mummyfied’ bowling pins!  Find a suitable ball and bowl away.

Skeleton Scavenger Hunt

This is a really entertaining Halloween scavenger hunt adventure. All you need are a couple of plastic skeletons from a toy shop. Disassemble the plastic skeletons bone-by-bone and hide the parts around the house. Divide the players up into two teams. The first team to find all the parts of their skeleton and re-assemble it correctly wins!

Monster Freeze

Get the whole family dressed up as the scariest monster they can possibly imagine. Then, play some child-friendly Halloween tunes and have the kids boogie until the music stops. When a song stops, everyone dancing must freeze and anyone still moving sits out the next round. The last person standing is the winner!

Halloween Guess Who

This game is perfect for a long night out trick-or-treating around the neighbourhood! Before you head out, each trick-or-treater places an age-appropriate Halloween character’s name on another player’s back. As you head out for your walk, make sure no one can see the name attached to their back. As the kids stroll around, they can give each other clues as to the character on their backs. It’s a fun take on Guess Who!
